The Flexible Standard Coupling (335-360mm) is designed to form a watertight seal between same-diameter pipes in underground and non-pressurised systems. It’s ideal for use in sewers, drains, and vent lines where secure, flexible joints are essential for reliability and long service life.

Shear banded couplings are a requirement of the UK water companies when connecting onto their assets. This requirement forms part of Water Industry Specification (WIS) 4-41-01, which outlines the requirements to connect pipes on adopted systems using only shear banded couplings.
Fernco Shear Banded Couplings have the ability to connect two pipes with the same or similar outside diameter (OD), and also have the flexibility to accommodate small differences in pipe OD’s. When the pipe OD’s are outside of the limitations of a Shear Banded Coupling, ‘Bushes’ can be used to make up the annual space between the smaller pipe OD and the Shear Banded Coupling.
Manufactured from high-performance EPDM rubber and fitted with corrosion-resistant 304 stainless steel bands, this coupling includes an integrated shear band to resist deflection, shear loads, or vacuum effects from heavy backfill or site activity. It provides a strong and adaptable connection, even in demanding conditions.
This product complies with UK and international standards and is suitable for use on all common pipe materials, including PVC-U, clay, cast iron, copper, and pitch fibre. It is rated for constant internal pressure up to 2.5 bar.
